OUR PROGRAMS

The Friendship In Action team helps students facing social, family, and academic pressures to identify their feelings, share their experiences, and develop strong emotional skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have expanded programming to include groups for adults as well as youth.

All programs are currently provided on virtual platforms.

THE CHALLENGE

Young people are increasingly facing social, family, and academic pressures that can seriously affect lives, never more so than now.

Those in need of support are often unable to confide in the adults in their life, either at home or school, because of circumstances beyond their control.

Without an outlet to share, youth may become overwhelmed by common stressors such as:

  • Social acceptance/not fitting In

  • Peer pressure

  • Family problems

  • Health

  • Identity

  • Bullying

  • Safety

  • School and academic struggles

  • Societal issues like COVID-19, climate change, poverty

OUR VISION

To provide an opportunity for youth, their parents, caregivers, and teachers to share with each other bravely in a positive safe environment.

Friendship In Action’s team of enthusiastic and experienced educators believe strongly in the social and emotional well-being of youth.  We know that nurturing emotional intelligence will provide them with the tools to become successful in both school and life. This we believe will contribute to them becoming caring family members, productive employees, and committed community members in the future.

We accept that “it takes a village to raise a child” and understand that every stage will bring important questions, challenges, and difficult choices. Creating brave, safe spaces for youth, and those who care for them to share their lives will allow for empowerment, greater feelings of belonging, and opportunities for successful outcomes when encountering stress.

OUR MISSION

“To create a safe place for young people and their caregivers to identify and share their stress in order to support each other compassionately.”

We achieve this through our unique programming of TLC – Talk, Listen, and Connect.

The values we promote are:

  • Respect

  • Kindness

  • Empathy

  • Confidence

  • Resilience

  • Honesty

  • Dignity

  • Authenticity

  • Compassion

  • Hope
