About FIA

Friendship in Action (FIA) is a Toronto based children’s charity that focuses on youth mental health, specifically social and emotional intelligence. Our staple program, Kids Helping Kids Manage Stress (KHKMS), teaches empathy and helps kids manage stress and anxiety. FIA Team Members work directly with grade 6-8 students in schools through peer-to-peer groups. The groups are student lead, which helps create a safe and open environment where students can talk, listen, and connect.

FIA’s core values are: Empathy, Kindness, Compassion, Courage, and Resilience. We aim to create a world where every young person is emotionally and socially intelligent. Emotional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. Social intelligence is the ability to successfully build relationships and navigate social environments.

Our programs provide a safe place for young people to identify their stress and to support each other with compassion.
